Jacob

Jacob was my brother Mark's firstborn son

Here is the coffin all our brother's and Brother in-laws. cousins etc... made in Nichole's garage for Jacob. Everyone was given a chance at the grave site to write something on it to Jacob.
The guitar had a sunset carved on it with Jacobs name on it. They worked so hard. It was very emotional for them all.

Lentil Soup

When my daughter was very young, she thought this was called "mental soup." Well to my kids that was a very suitable name for this unappreciated healthy soup. Packed with protein, complete if combined with a grain such as brown rice, a great source of iron, about 15 grams of fiber per cup, low in fat and low glycemic level which is a plus for me with the hypoglycemia plus many other vitamins and minerals especially B vitamins. I love them. The above is a soup I made and then poured over fresh baby spinach and diced avocado. I sprinkle mine with pure sea salt. What a power packed lunch. MMM...

  1. Wash two cups of brown lentils.
  2. Place in a large bowl and cover with warm water and let sit over night.
  3. Drain and rinse.
  4. Put in a pot along with plenty of chopped onion, garlic, celery, parsley, a pinch of thyme and some basil.
  5. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer to desired texture. (I do not like mine mushy so I try not to cook too long- no longer than an hour)
  6. Add salt and pepper.

I make a huge batch and then freeze it in smaller containers for lunches.

A New Family Member- Lady Charlotte

Introducing LADY CHARLOTTE!
We were not planning on keeping any of our puppies, but we have fallen hopelessly in love with this gentle little lamb of a puppy. She is very docile, just lays in your arms. And she loves being with us. She can be spunky at times too. Sister Joy named her one night before we decided to keep her and the name has stuck.

Look at those intelligent eyes. Many of our buyers have shown an interest in her because of her sweet dispostion. She is deffinately a keeper.

We are considering having her sleep with Priscilla and seeing if we might be able to have her trained to alarm us in case she has a siezure. We will see how everything works out.

I love all my puppies. They have been a joy and delight to have. We will miss them!

Carmel and Monterey

O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

Psalms 92: 5

A stroll through the town of Carmel where we stayed. We got a light dinner here at this bakery...

The trunk of the famous native Monterey Cypress. Some of these trees are over 300 years old...

Oops! I lost my sandals and then dropped my purse in the water. My cell phone is now no good. SIGH!

Hey Liz! Look at these!

Exploring Lovers Point!

I don't know what lovers are supposed to do when they get up here. Its pretty scarey!

MY ANCHOR HOLDS!

For years I have longed to go out to sea and see an Orca whales. The last day here we went on a whale watching trip from Fishermans Wharf. I prayed the night before and asked God to please us see the orca's. The big gray whales are more comonly seen and that was exciting too, but I have had a fascination with Orca whales. They are beautiful and very interesting.

GOD GAVE ME MY REQUEST!!!!
You can see them in these pictures. We had several sights of sometimes 7-8 whales at a time. We also saw a gray whale and a dolphin. AMAZING!
The most beautiful amazing wonderful thing I have ever seen (next to having a baby)to be out on the ocean in a boat for the first time in my life and to see ORCA'S!

Truly it was a dream come true!

Check out my pictures of the beautiful coastal trees and the lesson they taught me on my

Another Ma Ma for the Puppies

Callie has a Nanny. Our German Shepherd-Ridgeback Mix. She has never had pups of her own yet she still took these right under wing and is helping Callie out.
If she gets up to go out, and Callie follows, she will turn around and go back to keep an eye on the pups. She is very vigilant.

And she is LACTATING!

Now that's what I call team-work!
